A Life of Planty

Effective October 6, 2026

Terms of Service

These Terms explain the rules for using the A Life of Planty website, garden tools, memberships, and shop. A Life of Planty is operated by Marisa Jensen in Texas, United States. Questions about these Terms or a purchase can be sent to alifeofplanty@gmail.com.

In plain English

  • Your garden records and photos remain yours. We need limited permission to store and display them so the service can work.
  • Paid memberships renew until canceled. Canceling stops future renewal and keeps access through the paid-through date; membership payments are not refundable except as required by law.
  • Plant sales are final, subject to your legal rights and corrections for billing errors or orders we cannot fulfill.
  • Gardening guidance is educational. Confirm plant identity, safety, weather, and product instructions before acting.

This summary is a guide. Please read the full Terms below.

1. Using A Life of Planty

Account holders and purchasers must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. Please provide accurate account and order information, protect your sign-in details, and contact us if you believe someone has used your account without permission.

You may browse public content and use the features made available to you. Some features require an account, a paid membership, or an invitation. Availability and limits are described in the app. Features labeled as previews, unavailable, or coming soon are not a promise of a particular release date.

The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. It is a notice about our practices; accepting these Terms is not blanket permission for every possible use of personal information.

2. Garden guidance and safety

Plant profiles, care suggestions, weather displays, frost estimates, identification suggestions, and educational material may be incomplete or wrong. Conditions vary by garden. Check seed packets, pesticide and fertilizer labels, local extension guidance, current weather alerts, and the actual conditions where you grow.

Do not rely on the service alone to decide whether a plant is edible, medicinal, safe for children or pets, or suitable for treatment of a health condition. Do not eat or use an unidentified plant. Herbal or food-related content is general education, not medical advice or a guarantee of safety. Follow applicable rules for growing, propagating, transporting, and selling plants, including plant-patent and quarantine restrictions.

Photo or text-reading tools can make mistakes. Review extracted names, quantities, prices, dates, and care information before saving or acting. We do not guarantee germination, yield, plant survival, accurate identification, or any particular gardening result.

3. Your records, photos, and other content

You keep ownership of the records, notes, photos, and other content you contribute. You give A Life of Planty limited, nonexclusive permission to host, store, copy, process, and display that content as needed to provide the features you use, maintain the service, and help with support requests. This permission does not give us ownership or permission to sell your content or turn private member photos into advertising or public reference artwork.

Only upload content you have the right to use. Avoid including other people's private information, payment-card details, passwords, or sensitive information that is not needed for gardening. Private records are not a public contribution merely because you save them.

Guest records and some drafts are stored on your device. Signing out does not erase that device copy. Use care on shared devices and keep your own copies of important records. Synced records and separately stored photos are different data sets; deleting one item or a cloud garden does not necessarily remove all associated data.

4. Respectful and lawful use

Do not try to access another person's private records, bypass access controls or paid-feature limits, introduce malicious code, disrupt the service, impersonate another person, or submit unlawful, abusive, or rights-infringing content. If sharing features are available, share only material you have permission to share and respect the audience shown to you.

A Life of Planty's original branding, design, software, and educational content remain owned by their respective rights holders. You may use the service and its content for your own gardening and learning. Do not resell the service or republish its protected content without permission. Third-party materials remain subject to their applicable rights and credits.

5. Paid memberships and automatic renewal

When paid enrollment is available, standard membership is US $9 per month or US $90 per year, plus applicable tax. The checkout shows the plan, recurring charge, billing interval, and total before payment. A paid subscription renews automatically at the stated interval until canceled. Payment is processed by Stripe.

The Founding Gardener offer, when available to an eligible member, is US $35 per year while the subscription stays active. If you cancel and later rejoin, regular pricing applies. Your Founder badge and number stay yours. The offer is limited to the original 5,000 positions; a mention of the offer does not guarantee availability or reserve a position.

Free or complimentary access does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. Starting a paid subscription requires a separate checkout and payment authorization. Current availability shown in the app controls whether enrollment is open.

We will disclose a change to a recurring price before it takes effect and obtain any consent the law requires. A price change does not retroactively alter an already-paid period. Nothing here changes the continuous-subscription pricing stated for an eligible Founding Gardener.

6. Canceling a membership and refunds

You may cancel renewal at any time through Manage billing when it is available. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep membership access through the paid-through date. Cancel before the next renewal to avoid the next charge. If billing management is unavailable or you cannot sign in, email alifeofplanty@gmail.com with the account email and a request to cancel. Do not email card numbers or passwords.

Membership payments are nonrefundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for unused time, except where required by law. A cancellation does not itself refund a payment already made. Contact us about duplicate, mistaken, or unauthorized charges, or a service problem that may give you a legal right to a remedy. This policy does not limit rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.

Deleting a local record, signing out, or uninstalling a shortcut does not cancel a subscription. If you contact us to close your account and also want renewal canceled, please say so in the request.

7. Shop orders, pickup, and final-sale plants

Product descriptions, availability, quantities, prices, applicable tax, and fulfillment details are shown with the listing or at checkout. An item or checkout displayed as unavailable cannot be purchased through that flow. Nursery and other shop items may become available at different times.

For local pickup, the date and time you request are a request only. Wait for A Life of Planty to confirm the appointment and pickup instructions before traveling. An order or payment confirmation is not, by itself, confirmation of the requested pickup time. Contact us if you need to change a confirmed arrangement.

Plant sales are final. We do not accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges of plants. Please inspect plants at pickup and tell us promptly about an incorrect item, damage, or another problem. This policy does not exclude remedies for goods that are defective, misdescribed, or otherwise covered by applicable law. If we cannot fulfill an order, we will arrange an appropriate refund rather than rely on the final-sale policy to keep payment for an unfulfilled order.

If we offer non-plant goods, any additional return or cancellation terms will be shown before purchase. The plant final-sale rule does not automatically apply to unrelated products. Nothing in these Terms takes away a refund, cancellation, warranty, or other consumer right that the law does not allow us to exclude.

8. Other websites and affiliate links

Links may lead to retailers, payment services, social networks, or other third parties with their own terms and privacy practices. Purchases from another retailer are transactions with that retailer. Affiliate links may earn A Life of Planty a commission; relevant recommendations identify paid links or include an affiliate disclosure. An affiliate relationship does not grant that partner access to your private garden records.

9. Availability, account restrictions, and responsibility

We work to provide a useful service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free content, or that every feature will work on every device. To the extent permitted by law, educational material and free or experimental tools are provided as available, without a guarantee of a particular outcome. This does not exclude rights or guarantees that the law requires.

We may restrict access reasonably necessary to address security threats, unlawful activity, material misuse, or a breach of these Terms. Where practical, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us. This provision does not authorize us to keep money where a refund is required by law.

Each party remains responsible as provided by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the service changes. An updated version will show its effective date. For material changes affecting existing users, we will provide appropriate notice and request acceptance where required. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove rights that already accrued.

Please contact Marisa Jensen, A Life of Planty, at alifeofplanty@gmail.com with questions, support requests, cancellation requests, or concerns. We encourage direct contact to resolve a problem, but contacting us first is not a restriction on legal rights or deadlines.
